Bioware's and video games were set some years before the events of George Lucas' film saga, and shed light on the complicated history of the Republic, the Jedi Order and the Sith, introducing iconic video game characters such as Revan, Bastila Shan and later, Kreia. This particular video game franchise was notable for building on a previously unexplored era in the Star Wars timeline. It is currently unclear if the video game will be a sequel or a remake. Legendary characters such as the video game Sith lord Darth Revan were seemingly lost, along with everything else introduced in the Knights of the Old Republic series, when Disney placed the bulk of the Expanded Universe into "Star Wars Legends. Some of the greatest stories in the Star Wars franchise exist outside of the current canon.
